A Little About Me

My name is Gemma, I’m 30 years old and in October 2014 I was diagnosed with Bowel Cancer… but that doesn’t happen to people of my age right?

These posts will track my fight with this disease. It will be a true, no holding back account of what really happens physically, mentally and emotionally with a little of my weird humour thrown in.

If you’re fighting the same fight, I hope this will help to answer those questions that I’ve been desperately searching for myself. If you’re blessed with good health then it may be a good reminder of the key symptoms of the third most common form of cancer or maybe encourage you to help us beat cancer in your own way.

Thanks for taking the time to read.

  1. Hi Gemma, You are one exceptional lady. Please update us on how you are going. I am finding out tomorrow if my ostomy bag can be reversed (result of complications after a kidney transplant) and have been following your journey with admiration. Cheers, Lyn

    1. Thank you Lyn. I’ll be back to blogging as soon as I’m a little stronger. This last surgery was pretty major and has broken me a bit. Good luck with your reversal, I hope you get the news you’re after! X

  2. Hi there! I was wondering if I would be able to include a link to your blog on our website for the Ostomy Canada Society – I believe your posts are helpful to a lot of people out there facing colon cancer or ostomy surgery! Thank you for sharing your story…

  3. Hi Gemma, you and I were diagnosed the exact same time. I have been fighting for my life since then as well. Thank you so much for sharing this with everyone. You are an amazing person. ♡
